Clear, careful, and family-minded

Your privacy matters here.

This notice explains the information handled through the StoryMii website, its forms, and its website analytics—and the choices available to you.

01

What this notice covers

This notice describes the public StoryMii website, website forms, and first-party website analytics. The StoryMii mobile app may handle account details and child-created stories or activity to provide its features. Those app-specific data flows, vendors, and retention periods need to be described in the app’s own privacy disclosures; this website notice is not a complete inventory of them.

02

Information you choose to send us

When you submit a contact, collaboration, therapist, teacher, or ambassador form, we receive the fields you complete. Depending on the form, this can include your name, email address, organization, message, inquiry category, and form responses. The ambassador application may ask for a child’s age range and a family reading moment, along with a parent or guardian confirmation. Please do not include a child’s full name, contact details, school, precise location, health information, or other identifying details in a website form.

Our hosting and website services may also create access and security logs containing technical details such as the requested page, date and time, and browser information. These operational logs are separate from the website analytics reports described below.

03

How website analytics work

We use website analytics to understand general activity, such as which pages and stories people view and which campaigns bring visitors. A random browser identifier helps group activity into visits. Analytics is intended to capture website activity, not names or contact details.

04

Cookies and your choices

StoryMii analytics uses a first-party, HttpOnly cookie named storymii_vid. Its configured lifetime is up to 395 days. The website stops sending analytics when your browser signals Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. You can also turn off analytics for this browser using the control below; it stores that choice locally and asks the server to remove the associated analytics identifier and records. Clearing browser storage may clear this choice.

Your analytics choice

Manage optional website analytics

This choice applies to this browser. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are respected too.

05

How we use information

We use submitted information to respond to questions, review applications, follow up on collaborations, and operate the website forms. We use website analytics to understand which pages and features are being used, evaluate campaigns, and improve the website. Form submissions are stored in the website’s administration system and can be viewed by authorized StoryMii administrators.

06

When information may be shared

Information may be available to the people who manage StoryMii and to service providers who help host, secure, or operate the website and its database. We may also disclose information when required by law or when needed to protect people, the service, or our rights. The website includes links to other sites and may embed video hosted by another provider; those providers operate under their own privacy practices when your browser loads their content.

07

Children and family information

StoryMii is designed for children and families, so information about children deserves extra care. Website contact and inquiry forms are intended for adults. A parent or guardian should submit a form on a child’s behalf and should share only what is needed. This website notice does not replace the child-specific disclosures and parental controls that should accompany the StoryMii app.

08

How long information is kept

At present, the website does not automatically delete stored form submissions or analytics records on a set schedule. We retain them while they are needed to respond to inquiries, operate and understand the website, maintain security, or meet legal obligations, and will update this notice when specific retention periods are adopted. Analytics linked to your browser identifier can be removed through the control above while that identifier is available.

09

Your privacy requests

Depending on where you live, you may be able to ask us to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Parents or guardians can make a request about information they submitted for a child. Email [email protected] and describe your request; please do not send passwords or sensitive child information by email. We may need to verify the request and may retain information where the law permits or requires it.

10

Security, updates, and contact

We use access controls and technical safeguards intended to protect website information, but no online service can promise absolute security. We may update this notice as the website and StoryMii change. We will revise the date at the top when we do. For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected] or write to MiiApps, 82 Lakeshore Dr., Toronto, ON, M8V 1Z9, Canada.
